Fatty Liver Treatment in Dwarka

Fatty liver found on a routine ultrasound is a metabolic warning, not an incidental finding to ignore.

What the ultrasound report means

Grade I, II or III fatty liver describes how much fat the scan can see. What matters more is whether inflammation and scarring have begun, which the ultrasound alone cannot tell you.

Assessment therefore includes liver enzymes, a fibrosis assessment, and screening for the conditions that cause and accompany it.

Why it happens

Fatty liver is closely tied to insulin resistance. It commonly appears alongside abdominal weight gain, prediabetes or diabetes, high triglycerides, PCOS and hypothyroidism — all of which are checked, because treating the liver in isolation does not work.

Treatment

There is no tablet that removes liver fat. Weight reduction is the treatment, and the effect is dose-dependent: modest loss reduces fat, greater sustained loss can reverse inflammation and early scarring.

  • A specific weight-loss target with a timeline, not general advice
  • Elimination of sugary drinks, fruit juice and refined carbohydrate
  • Complete avoidance of alcohol
  • Regular aerobic activity plus resistance training
  • Treatment of associated diabetes, lipid and thyroid problems
  • Repeat enzymes and imaging to confirm improvement

Frequently asked questions

Is fatty liver reversible?
In its early stages, yes. Liver fat reduces substantially with sustained weight loss. Once significant fibrosis or cirrhosis has developed, the aim shifts to halting progression.
I do not drink alcohol. How can I have fatty liver?
Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease is driven by insulin resistance and diet, particularly refined carbohydrate and sugar. It is now the most common liver condition in urban India.
Do liver supplements or tonics help?
There is no good evidence that over-the-counter liver tonics reverse fatty liver. Weight loss and control of the underlying metabolic problem do.
