Preparing for your test
Fasting tests require 8 to 10 hours without food; water is allowed and encouraged. Take your regular medicines as advised — do not skip blood pressure or thyroid tablets unless you have been specifically told to. If you are on insulin, discuss timing with the clinic before a fasting sample so that a hypoglycaemic episode is avoided.
