High Blood Pressure (Hypertension) Treatment in Dwarka
High blood pressure causes no symptoms until it causes damage. Controlling it is one of the most effective things medicine can do.
Getting the diagnosis right
A single high reading in a clinic is not hypertension. Blood pressure is confirmed over multiple readings, ideally including home measurements, because both white-coat and masked hypertension are common.
You will be shown how to measure correctly at home — cuff position, rest before measurement, and how to record readings usefully.
Looking for a cause
Most hypertension is primary, but a first evaluation should rule out treatable secondary causes, particularly in younger patients or when BP is unusually resistant.
- Kidney function, urine examination and electrolytes
- Thyroid profile
- Blood sugar and lipid profile
- ECG and, where indicated, echocardiography
- Review of medicines and supplements that raise BP
Treatment
Salt reduction, weight loss, alcohol moderation and regular activity genuinely lower blood pressure and are worth real effort. Where medication is needed, the aim is a simple regimen — ideally once daily — that you can sustain for years.
Diabetes, kidney disease and heart disease change the targets, so BP is never treated in isolation from the rest of your metabolic picture.
